Jollibee Studios Inspired Spec Ad

Assigned as a final project in Bryce Pedersen's ACM 372: Editing course, students were tasked with creating a spec ad for a brand, company or interesting person of their choosing. (Spec ads, industry shorthand for "speculative advertisements"  are in layman's terms an uncomissioned commercial that can be sold to brands, used to build a portfolio, or attract other clientele). Around the same time this was assigned to my editing class, my professor for ACM 410: Advanced Cinematic Production Anne Misawa assigned both teams doing 410 level student productions at the time to collaborate on a short film during one of our many afternoon "test shoot" days at Ernst Theatre. Being the director in my team, I pitched that our collaboration with this other team be the same project I turn in as my spec ad, selling the other director opposite me on the idea of Jollibee Studios inspired spec ad (which worked, thankfully, because we were both Filipino and knew the artistic and narrative merits of such ads). What you see above is the end result. Click here to view the original "The Perfect Pair" ad that inspired this spec ad.
